Title: Dutch Brothers in Cave Junction
Post by: CJ Resident on June 01, 2008, 06:43:46 AM
Recently heard that the building that formerly housed "Uncle Billys" has been sold to Dutch Brothers. We already have 2 very nice fufu coffee supply establishments in town, both owned locally I might add, why would we or do we need a mega, not locally owned, coffee stand in the middle of town. I'm all (mostly) for free enterprise and all but I really don't want to see this place go up. Or the AM/PM at the north end of town for that matter. I would like to see better choices in the food (Albertson's) and building supply (Fields) stores though.

Dutch brothers are local boys. They are two brothers that graduated from North valley high school in about 1988. They started with a push cart by the Grants Pass post office. :toast:
I am glad to see them come to town competition is good for business it make the work harder to keep local customers.

If the "Dutch brothers" went to IVHS and lived between Selma and O'Brien I might consider them local but GP isn't local.
I don't drink the fufu crap myself (rate it right down there with that over roasted, burned, starbucks cow urine) but one of those hideous DB buildings in the middle of town doesn't appeal to me at all. I all ready have to see 3 of those nasty things on my way to work 6 days a week and then again on my way home.
Competition is a good thing but over saturation isn't.

I really don't think we need another coffee place,as for am/pm I welcome them , they do not import Middle Eastern oil  :toast:

WHERE TO BUY AMERICAN GASOLINE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW.  READ ON.

Gas rationing in the 70's worked even though we grumbled about it.  It
might even have been good for us!

Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products?

Shouldn't we return the favor?  Can't we take control of our own destiny
and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits,
their livings?  How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the
import/export deficit?

An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS.  Every time you fill up
your car you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia.
Just purchase gas from companies that don't import their oil from the
Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every t ime I fill up my
tank, I'm sending my money to people who I get the impression want me, my
family and my friends dead.   Don't you think it might be of interest to
know which oil companies import Middle Eastern oil and which do not?

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell..................................      205,742,000 barrels

Chevron/Texaco..................       144,332,000 barrels

Exxon /Mobil.......................       130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway............       117,740,000 barrels

Amoco...............................       62,231,000 barrels

And CITGO oil is imported from Venezuela by Dictator Hugo Chavez who hates
America and openly avows our economic destruction!  (We pay Chavez's regime
nearly $10 Billion per y e ar in oil revenues!)

The U.S. currently imports 5,517,000 barrels of crude oil per day from
OPEC.  If you do the math at $95 per barrel (now it's over $100) that's over
$524 million PER DAY ($191 BILLION per year!) handed over to OPEC, many of
whose members are our confirmed enemies!!!!!

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco......................       0 barrels
Conoco......................       0 barrels
Sinclair......................       0 barrels
BP / Phillips................        0 barrels

Hess. ...............................................       0 barrels
ARC0.........................................      0 barrels

Maverick.....................       0 ba rrels

Flying J. ........................................       0 barrels

Valero.........................       0 barrels

All of this information is available from the U.S. Department of Energy
and each company is required to state where they get their oil and how much
they are importing.

Nice, a Dutch Brothers. Im looking forward to that. Choice is a wonderful thing. The choice to buy what coffee you prefer right down to the choice to purchase available property and place your business on that property.

I dislike the thought of a DB coming into town for a couple of reasons.  First, DB had an agreement with Z Coffee to stay out of CJ and Z's would stay out of Grants Pass.  Secondly, DB coffee sucks!  Third, we have two coffee shops in town and that is enough.  Fourth, before we get another coffee shop, we need other services available in CJ...This town is dying and being taken over by the tweekers and the homeless.  Enough already.  Let's get some commerce in town that is of the legal nature and services that will be utilized by the folks in town.  And let's clean up the streets of unwanted nuisances.

 I think that if any business comes to Cave Junction and employs at least 1 resident from here...go for it! We need more businesses revenue to make this town "healthy". More Businesses is better for the growth of this very beautiful place! Hey, has anyone heard the status of the Conversion of the old pool to a water park? That would certainly add at least 4 jobs to the community!
